Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be particularly helpful for adults living with ADHD. It provides practical tools and strategies to manage challenges such as difficulty concentrating, poor organisation, forgetfulness, and time management difficulties.
Living with ADHD, particularly if this remains undiagnosed until adulthood, can also bring emotional challenges. Many adults with ADHD also experience anxiety, depression, procrastination, low self-esteem, sleep difficulties, and emotion regulation problems which can make everyday tasks feel overwhelming or stressful. CBT addresses both the practical and emotional aspects of ADHD, helping you understand how these patterns develop and giving you strategies to respond to them more effectively.
In sessions, we focus on building strategies that fit your life. This may include breaking tasks into manageable steps, improving routines, developing time management skills, and learning ways to cope with frustration, stress, or difficult emotions.
CBT also helps you recognise and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, such as self-criticism or negative expectations, so you can gradually feel more confident, capable, and in control.
